About the Family
The SCHWAB family, German Jews, were imprisoned in the Cours du Médoc internment camp in Bordeaux, France in June 1940. The entire camp requested and received visas from Aristides de Sousa Mendes.
Unfortunately they did not manage to leave France and were rearrested.
Siegfried SCHWAB, his brother Kurt and Kurt’s wife, Luise were interned at Camp Cepoy.
Siegfried SCHWAB was deported with Transport 17, Train 901-12, from the Gurs internment camp in France to the Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp in Poland on May 8, 1942.
Kurt and Luise SCHWAB emigrated to New York City, where they survived.
