About the Individual

The composer Oskar MORAWETZ received a visa from Aristides de Sousa Mendes in Bordeaux on October 16, 1939.

He was unable to obtain a Spanish transit visa, but on the strength of his Portuguese visa was able to acquire Swiss and Italian transit visas. He traveled from Italy to the Dominican Republic before emigrating to Canada where he joined his parents. In Canada he became an award-winning composer.
