About the Family

Gertrude and Oswald Clément KANITZ were living in Figueira da Foz, Portugal in July 1940, presumably after receiving visas from Aristides de Sousa Mendes.

In January of 1942 they sailed on the vessel Serpa Pinto from Lisbon to the island of Jamaica, where they were interned at Camp Gibraltar.
