About the Family
The STERN couple and Margot BLUMENTHAL, all German Jews, were imprisoned in the Cours du Médoc internment camp in Bordeaux, France in June 1940. The entire camp requested and received visas from Aristides de Sousa Mendes.
They crossed into Portugal, where they resided in Porto. They sailed on the vessel Serpa Pinto from Lisbon to New York in December 1940.
