The BARDI couple, Hungarian citizens, were in Porto, Portugal in July 1940, presumably after having received visas from Aristides de Sousa Mendes.

They sailed from Lisbon to New York on the vessel Serpa Pinto in June 1941. They changed the spelling of their name to BARDY.
